Job summary

Job description

  • Collect and process donor samples for processing and testing
  • Record product and sample weights
  • Label samples and freeze units for final packing within required timeframes
  • Participate in unit management according to SOP
  • Pack units for final shipment
  • Pack samples and prepare shipping boxes for the testing laboratory
  • Monitor stored product to ensure time requirements are met
  • Monitor and report equipment working conditions
  • Communicate with other service areas to ensure accurate documentation and quality
  • Complete all necessary documentation and ensure donor confidentiality
  • Build rapport with donors to support satisfaction and long-term donation
  • Maintain necessary job supplies
  • Report unsafe situations or conditions to the area lead, supervisor or manager
  • Cross-train and work in other areas to ensure efficient center operations

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Obtains required state licensures or certifications where applicable
  • Typically requires 2 years of related experience
  • Familiarity and compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Familiarity and compliance with FDA-approved Standard Operating Procedure Manual, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP and internal company procedures
  • Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical equipment and extreme cold below 32°F
  • Ability to stand for 4 to 6 hours per day
  • Ability to bend and twist neck and waist for 1-2 hours per day
  • Frequent hand, finger, wrist and foot movement; ability to make precise coordinated movements
  • Ability to lift 25-35 lbs for 1-2 hours per day and occasionally lift 15 lbs, with a maximum lift of 50 lbs
  • Hearing acuity essential
  • Correctable near and far vision, with specified visual acuity requirements
  • Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to listen to and understand spoken information
