Job summary

Upchurch is seeking an experienced Piping Superintendent to lead and oversee all piping operations on commercial mechanical construction projects. You will manage field crews, coordinate installation activities, ensure compliance with project specifications, and drive projects to completion.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in piping/mechanical construction and 4+ years in supervisory roles, with strong blueprints interpretation and leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of experience in piping, pipefitting, or mechanical construction trade.
• Minimum 4 years of supervisory or superintendent experience on commercial mechanical construction projects.
• Proven experience managing commercial piping installations from start-up through completion.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical piping systems (hydronic, chilled water, heating water, steam, process piping, domestic water, sanitary waste, medical gas).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, schedules, and technical documents.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and coordination with multiple trades.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to supervise multiple foremen and large field labor forces.
• Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all piping installation activities on commercial construction projects.
• Lead field crews, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient work per schedules.
• Interpret piping blueprints, specifications, and project documents for proper installation and performance.
• Develop work plans, sequencing, and manpower strategies to maximize productivity.
• Monitor progress to ensure compliance with project specs, quality standards, and company expectations.
• Coordinate material procurement and delivery with project teams and vendors.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, General Contractors, vendors, and other trades to maintain workflow.
• Conduct regular site inspections for quality, safety, and code compliance.
• Lead daily safety meetings and promote Upchurch's safety culture.
• Maintain organized, safe work environments and housekeeping across sites.
• Track labor productivity and material usage to control costs and schedules.
• Resolve field issues promptly with minimal disruption.
