Qualifications

• College degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong payroll knowledge and experience managing complex payroll operations.
• Experience with multi-state payroll, payroll tax compliance, deductions, garnishments, benefits, and year-end reporting.
• Strong management, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with employees, leadership, vendors, and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly payroll for 850+ employees across facilities and states, ensuring on-time payments.
• Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, tax withholdings, deductions and other components.
• Review timesheets, hours, and inputs to ensure timely and accurate processing.
• Manage daily hours for all facilities, including adjustments and time entry.
• Process and maintain direct deposits and payroll adjustments.
• Address employee payroll questions and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Handle deductions including 401(k), HSA, garnishments, PTO, leaves, and FMLA.
• Enter and manage multi-state tax deductions and withholdings.
• Process union dues, COPE, fees, benefits deductions, shift differentials, and bonuses.
• Ensure proper tax handling and tax codes are established and maintained.
• Payroll Tax & Compliance: comply with federal/state/local laws, manage tax payments and returns, prepare reports, maintain audit readiness, year-end W-2/1095-C, unemployment processes.
• Reporting, Billing & Vendor Management: generate and distribute payroll reports, review carrier billings, coordinate with internal and external contacts, maintain records.
• Administrative: maintain organized payroll files, oversee policy adherence, support audits, and handle ad-hoc duties.
