Job summary

Oakland Unified School District is seeking a Lead Painter in the Buildings & Grounds Department. The role reports to an Assigned Supervisor and leads painting personnel in maintaining interior and exterior surfaces. This full-time position operates 261 days per year with standard hours.

Responsibilities include overseeing equipment use, scheduling preventive maintenance, and coordinating with district staff and contractors to complete painting projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and six years of journey-level painting experience.
• Valid California Driver’s License and ability to obtain district clearance.
• Ability to apply paints and finishes, and supervise painting personnel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee painting projects and ensure proper use of painting equipment.
• Estimate time, labor, and materials for assigned projects.
• Lead day-to-day operations of painting personnel and provide guidance.
