Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a skilled trades professional to maintain interior and exterior building finishes at the McCrady Training Center and army facilities statewide. The role includes supervising painting and carpentry, installing wall finishes, trim, baseboards, floors, stairs, and roofs, and coordinating with contractors.

You will lead painting and finishing tasks, apply various floor coverings, patch surfaces, and ensure safety regulations are followed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or trades experience substitution allowed on a year-for-year basis.
• Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver's License. Some positions may require specific certifications/licenses.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and perform painting and basic carpentry duties for wall finishes, trim, base boards, floors, stairs, roofs and related finishes.
• Lead Painter responsibilities and oversee painting/finishing tasks.
• Apply floor coverings including vinyl and ceramic tile, carpeting, sheet vinyl, and other finishes.
• Patch walls, ceilings and floors before applying finishes.
• Supervise subordinates and coordinate with contracted support as needed.
• Maintain safe work environment and adhere to safety regulations.
• Perform basic carpentry and repair tasks on buildings and systems.
• Lead carpenter duties under Facility Manager supervision.
• Receive work orders, develop bill of materials and tool/equipment requirements, and schedule work.
• Document completed work orders and maintenance activities.
