Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a general maintenance professional to support Lieber correctional institution. The role covers carpentry, masonry, drywall, painting, welding fabrication, and routine repairs across the facility.

You will complete a four-week SCDC Basic Training on hire, supervise maintenance tasks, manage supplies, and ensure timely, safe repairs within a correctional setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; three years of professional maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to supervise, direct, instruct, and work with others.
• Experience in general maintenance, construction, and repair within institutional settings may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develops general maintenance and repair program throughout the facility.
• Provides assistance in carpentry, masonry, drywall, painting, welding fabrication, maintenance and repair program.
• Supervises and completes general maintenance, construction, and renovation projects for facility.
• Establishes on-call procedures to respond to emergency general maintenance and repair calls and assures the work is promptly and properly performed.
• Determines requirements for general maintenance and repair supplies and equipment; prepares justification and requisitions for all supplies and equipment.
• Remains abreast of new general maintenance techniques, procedures, and equipment for Lieber correctional institution.
• Recommends the procurement of new equipment and assists in supervising installation of equipment.
