Job summary

L3Harris Technologies seeks a hands-on Lead Optical Engineer in Wilmington, MA to drive optical assembly, integration and test for space programs, using interferometry and precision alignment to meet tight tolerances.

You will lead a multidisciplinary AI&T team, work with manufacturing and quality personnel, and apply Zemax/CodeV with MATLAB or Python for data analysis, while ensuring security clearance requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Experience with precision alignment using interferometry.
• Ability to interpret interferometric data and alignment tolerances.
• Experience leading optical AI&T projects.
• Strong organizational and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Create assembly and test workflows and author optical test plans and procedures.
• Configure and align optical test support equipment.
• Lead and conduct testing and alignment of complex optical systems in a lab.
• Interpret interferometry measurements to aid adjustment of components.
• Collaborate with optical design and modeling efforts for hands-on testing.
• Engage in troubleshooting to verify system requirements.
• Inspect optical components to maintain integrity.
• Document processes and status of tasks clearly.
