Job summary

MassMutual in Boston or Springfield, MA is seeking a strategic Head of Operational Risk Assessments and Governance to lead enterprise-wide process execution risk assessments and operational resilience oversight. This second line of defense role partners with business units to strengthen controls and risk culture.

The successful candidate will drive risk & control assessments, scenario analysis, loss data collection, and post-incident analysis, while reporting to senior leadership and governing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Operations, or related field.
• 10+ years in operational risk, enterprise risk, or internal controls, with leadership experience.
• Expertise in risk & control assessment programs (RCSA) and post-incident analysis.

Responsibilities

• Own and lead the enterprise-wide risk & control assessment program across the organization.
• Oversee identification, assessment, and monitoring of process execution risks.
• Ensure internal controls are documented in the enterprise GRC system and effective.
• Provide independent assessment and support for control design and mitigation strategies.
• Lead scenario analysis, loss event data collection, and root cause analysis processes.
• Maintain governance frameworks and oversight of operational resilience.
• Deliver risk reporting to senior leadership and risk committees.
