Job summary

Capital One seeks a Principal Associate of Ontology and Data Modeling to develop enterprise ontologies and standardized data supporting the bank's data strategy. You will collaborate with Finance and Enterprise partners to create domain ontologies for enterprise initiatives and champion semantic technology adoption across Capital One products and services.

You will partner with Technology and Product teams to implement semantic capabilities, ensure adherence to W3C standards, and lead governance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant fields; strong background in information science or ontology.
• 3+ years in metadata, ontology, semantics, or related field; advanced training in standards.
• 3+ years using W3C standards (JSON, XML, RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS).
• 3+ years with ontology and linked data tools (Protégé, PoolParty, Stardog, Neptune).
• 3+ years experience with SQL, SPARQL, or both.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and govern ontologies and optimized data models with stakeholder input.
• Contribute to data integration and mapping to harmonize data with ontologies.
• Communicate value of ontologies and standardization across business units.
• Partner with Technology, ML and other teams to integrate semantics in products and services.
• Analyze and implement knowledge organization strategies using ML-enabled tools.
• Maintain awareness of industry developments in ontology, data modeling and ML.
• Understand and adhere to RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS, SHACL standards.
• Develop standards and guidelines for ontology and data standardization at Capital One.
• Test and troubleshoot new or updated models and systems.
• Manage and oversee other projects as assigned by Product Owners and Supervisors.
