Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Principal Associate of Ontology and Data Modeling to develop and maintain enterprise ontologies supporting the Data Strategy. You will collaborate with Finance and Enterprise partners to standardize data and drive semantic technology adoption across Capital One products and services.

The role requires strong knowledge of ontologies, RDF/OWL/SKOS, and data modeling, with experience in tools like Protégé and PoolParty.

Qualifications

3+ years in metadata or related field with relevant degree.
Experience with W3C standards and linked data.
Proficient in ontology and linked data tooling.
Strong SQL/Sparql knowledge and data modeling skills.
Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement and govern ontologies and optimized data models with stakeholders.
Contribute to data integration to harmonize data with domain ontologies.
Advocate the value of ontologies, semantics and standardization across the business.
Partner with Technology, ML and other teams to integrate semantics into products.
Analyze and implement knowledge organization strategies using ML and ontology tools.
Maintain awareness of industry developments in ontology and data modeling.
Follow W3C standards like RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS, SHACL.
Develop standards and guidelines for ontology and data standardization.
Test and troubleshoot new models and systems.
Manage projects as assigned by Product Owners and Supervisors.
