Job summary

The Alden Network in Chicago is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care and supervise nursing assistants, ensuring compliance with state and federal standards and facility policies. You will oversee day-to-day operations on your unit, promote quality care, and mentor staff.

You will coordinate care plans, administer medications as ordered, document accurately, attend staff meetings, and communicate with physicians and families.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current, unencumbered RN license for IL and/or WI.
• CPR certification required or obtained within two weeks of employment.
• Strong knowledge of nursing practices and procedures.
• Demonstrates interest/knowledge in elderly care.
• Ability to read/write/speak English clearly.
• Ability to make independent decisions when needed.
• Professional demeanor with tactful interaction with patients and families.
• Leadership and supervisory abilities; collaborative with staff.
• Personable, enthusiastic, and resourceful.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care and supervise nursing assistants.
• Ensure care complies with federal, state, local standards and policies.
• Develop and implement care plans; direct nursing procedures.
• Medicate and treat patients as ordered; document accurately.
• Attend care plan conferences; communicate with physicians and families.
• Maintain warmth and a positive department atmosphere.
• Complete required assessments during admission, transfer, discharge.
• Fill out accident/incident reports and monitor patient conditions.
