Job summary

Cloudflare in the United States (Austin) is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for Network Connectivity to lead the Egress team and build cutting-edge network software infrastructure.

You'll hire, mentor, and coach a distributed team of software and systems engineers, partnering with product and other engineering leaders to deliver reliable connectivity across Cloudflare's portfolio. Strong communication and AI tooling experience preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience as an Engineering Manager for a team of Software and Systems Engineers.
• Experience managing a team including hiring, onboarding, and professional development. You inspire your team to reach higher. You’re as good at explaining “why” as you are “how”.
• Excel at planning and overseeing execution to meet commitments and deliver with predictability.
• Experience/interest in Layer 3 and Layer 4 networking
• Experience/interest in network performance monitoring and tuning.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, and debugging distributed systems.
• Experience participating in and/or managing an on‑call rotation for production services with direct customer impact.
• Willingness to adopt and integrate AI tools and systems into your workflow.
• Clarity in written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Hiring, mentoring, and coaching a distributed team of Software Engineers.
• Communicate the vision, prioritize the team’s roadmap, and achieve cross-functional objectives with Product Managers and other Engineering leaders.
• Understand technical implications across a distributed software network infrastructure to influence scope and unblock projects.
• Apply technical experience to evaluate tradeoffs, contribute to design decisions, and drive resolution to customer‑facing issues.
• Take responsibility for the team’s production services by organizing on‑call rotations, handling customer escalations, and overseeing incident response and follow‑up.
• Drive reliability and automation improvements across the platform.
• Use tools and processes to convey project status and resolve blockages.
