Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to be the lead Network Architect for the Sentinel program. This role is based in Roy, Utah, and may offer relocation assistance.

You will join the Weapon System Integration team, shaping program-wide networking governance, architecture, documentation, and NSI artifacts while mentoring a mid-career architect and collaborating across IPTs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM and 12 years of experience with Bachelor's, 10 with Masters, or 8 with PhD.
• US Citizen with active DoD Top Secret clearance and SAP access within reasonable time.
• 6+ years designing, architecting, and deploying complex network infrastructures.
• 4+ years working with requirements (authoring, allocating, tracing, interpreting).
• 5+ years partnering across IPTs and disciplines.
• 2+ years developing network documentation and design planning.

Responsibilities

• Use Model-Based Systems Engineering practices to design, test, and verify network capabilities.
• Drive logical/physical network architecture governance, tool standardization, and system-level network architecture development.
• Coordinate with other (SDV and BU) MBSE governance and network developer teams.
• Influence network requirements and interfaces; translate program-level requirements into network-level deliverables.
• Mentor a mid-career architect/assignee on networking systems architecture synthesis and system-level development.
• Support governance adherence for waveform and lower-level OSI network management, protocols, and timing.
• Assess the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable network infrastructure to include network design, architecture, specifications, cross-segment interfaces, and equipment selection per DoD requirements.
• Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
• Apply the principles of engineering to design components and systems using applicable standards and specifications.
• Participate in frequent working groups to support iterative development
• Provide specific and detailed information for hardware and software selection as well as implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements
• Create and ensure that appropriate network documentation exists
• Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed
• Recommend and implement system/process enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system
• Maintain knowledge of current and emerging Industry and DoD trends and technologies in network frameworks, management, and analytics while ensuring proper utilization where applicable
• Establish and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction according to defined objectives while adhering to established policies
• Exhibit good communication skills, an energetic approach, and patience with customers
