The Frick Pittsburgh is seeking a dedicated Lead Museum Educator to organize and lead high-quality, art-based educational experiences for students, families, and community groups across the Frick Pittsburgh’s museums, grounds, and outreach programs.

You will train as part of an education corps, lead hands-on activities, adapt programs to curriculum, and mentor junior educators while ensuring engaging experiences for visitors of all ages.

Qualifications

  • Background in education, museums, or art facilitation is a plus.
  • Ability to teach children of varying ages and abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and adaptability in real time.
  • Engaging speaker with energy, flexibility and collaborative spirit.
  • Professional, reliable, punctual with a flexible schedule and monthly minimum availability.
  • Strong interest in art and history to share with young visitors.
  • Ability to address sensitive topics with empathy.
  • Ability to lead tours for 2–4 hours and stand for long periods; able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Act 33/34 clearance and FBI background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the day-of lead educator for hands-on, inquiry-based programs across three museums, greenhouse, and grounds.
  • Attend and complete museum educator trainings; undergo museum-specific training one at a time.
  • Lead tours for youth and family groups after training is complete.
  • Tailor programs to curriculum, teacher requests, and student needs.
  • Participate in ongoing training sessions and meetings.
  • Arrive 30 minutes before sessions to prepare and conduct pre-program briefings.
  • Greet visiting groups and manage on-site check-in per guidelines.
  • Stay after programs to review outcomes with staff and address challenges.
  • Mentor new museum educators.
