Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate content and pedagogy for a variety of audiences.
• Aptitude for creativity, curiosity, passion, enthusiasm, integrity and strong professional ethics.
• Documented ability to contribute in team settings.
• Passion for science and nature.
• Pennsylvania Act 153 clearances are required beginning employment.
• PA Class C Driver's License or equivalent needed.
• Weekend work may be required.
• Fluency in languages other than English valued.

Responsibilities

• Leading instruction with educators, assistants, and volunteers to deliver effective, engaging, and safe learning experiences.
• Applying knowledge of best practices to create welcoming, age-appropriate spaces where participants feel cared for and are excited to learn about science, nature and one another.
• Designing and defining clear goals and creating opportunities for learners to receive feedback on progress towards goals.
• Using strategies that engage diverse learners, including accessibility considerations.
• Preparing educational experiences by adapting lesson plans and ensuring spaces/materials are prepared.
• Coordinating transportation and return of materials for off-site programs when needed.
• Creating safe learning environments by following safety procedures and reporting incidents.
• Developing pedagogy skills through professional development within CMNH.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Bachelor’s degree in sciences, humanities, education, or related field
