Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Washington state seeks a Principal Motor Control Avionics Engineer to own the baseline for a family of embedded motor controllers used across Lunar Permanence vehicles. You will guide architecture, requirements, verification, and lifecycle documentation.

The role involves hands-on lab bring-up, debugging hardware‑software issues, and coordinating with electrical, firmware, and systems teams to ensure high reliability in demanding space environments.

Qualifications

• B.S. in electrical engineering, aerospace, or related field.
• 12+ years in motor control or motor drive systems.
• Experience with embedded control in safety-critical environments.
• Ability to own a technical baseline and document it.
• Hands-on hardware lab experience with bring-up and verification.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical baseline for embedded motor controllers.
• Define reusable architectures across mechanisms, vehicles, and mission use cases.
• Develop controller solutions for embedded motor technologies including BLDC and stepper motors.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering team across concept development, design, build, and production transition.
• Plan and execute verification activities including test strategy, hardware bring-up, and environmental tests.
