Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist to supervise and support the Laboratory team in a dynamic, patient‑focused setting. The role includes acting as Laboratory Supervisor in their absence, overseeing routine and advanced testing, and ensuring compliance with CLSI guidelines.

The Lead MLS will drive quality assurance, mentor staff, manage testing workflows, and participate in data reporting and special projects, with a focus on accuracy and turnaround time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology or MLS.
• Supervisory experience in a clinical lab environment.
• Strong knowledge of QC/QA processes and CLSI guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead in charge duties in the absence of the Supervisor.
• Monitor and evaluate staff competency and performance.
• Ensure instrument maintenance and QC documentation.
• Develop procedures and training materials; support department QA.
