Job summary

Southland Industries in Columbus, OH seeks a licensed engineer to lead and design HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, evaluating projects from new builds to rehab. You will perform complex calculations, develop standards, and guide less-experienced engineers while preparing technical narratives for RFIs.

Candidate should have a Bachelor's in Engineering, PE license, and 5+ years of experience; proficiency in CAD and MS Office is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• PE License required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, including CAD and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex calculations, drawings and specifications related to HVAC, plumbing, fire protection or other systems.
• Performs complex calculations for a project, such as heating/cooling loads, equipment sizing and sizing, etc.
• Develops standards, methods, processes and procedures for reviewing, evaluating and inspecting designs.
• Determines methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and identify the most efficient and acceptable solution.
• Directs the workflow of less-experienced engineers on assigned projects. Mentors and provides guidance on designs and technical issues.
• Writes technical narratives in response to RFIs.
