Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a senior engineer to lead and evaluate HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection projects from design through construction. You will review calculations, mentor junior engineers, and write technical RFIs.

The role requires a PE license, a bachelor’s degree in engineering, and at least five years of experience in system design. Strong CAD and MS Office skills are essential; the team emphasizes collaboration and technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
• PE license required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in related field.
• Strong knowledge of fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing systems.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills including CADD and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead calculations, drawings and specs for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection or related systems.
• Perform complex engineering analyses (loads, sizing, friction/hydraulic calculations).
• Develop standards, methods and procedures for reviewing designs.
• Direct workflow of less-experienced engineers and mentor on designs and issues.
• Prepare technical narratives in response to RFIs.
