Job summary

Southland Industries seeks an experienced engineer to lead design and evaluation of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems on diverse projects. You will perform complex calculations, produce drawings and specifications, and guide junior engineers while developing design standards.

The role requires a PE license, a bachelor’s degree in engineering, and at least five years of relevant experience, with strong communication and CAD/Office skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• PE License required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of systems design (fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing, etc.).
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office products, including Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead, evaluate, design, and engineer projects and systems to specification.
• Provide ongoing technical guidance and engineering issue resolution.
• Perform complex calculations, drawings and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, or fire protection systems.
• Develop standards, methods, and procedures for design review and inspection.
• Direct workflow of less-experienced engineers and mentor on designs.
• Write technical narratives in response to RFIs.
