Job summary

Merit Health Central seeks a Medical Technologist Lead to coordinate, oversee, and ensure quality laboratory operations within an assigned section. This role supervises testing accuracy, QC, regulatory compliance, equipment maintenance, and staff competency assessments.

The Medical Technologist Lead serves as a technical resource, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and accreditation standards while performing laboratory testing as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• 2–4 years as a Medical Technologist in a clinical laboratory setting.
• 0–2 years leadership, training, or quality management within a laboratory environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs, verifies, and reports moderate and high-complexity laboratory tests, ensuring timely, accurate results in compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other standards.
• Oversees daily laboratory operations, including workflow management, supply inventory, and staffing coordination.
• Monitors quality control measures, troubleshoots discrepancies, and ensures proficiency testing is performed and reported on time.
• Conducts competency assessments for laboratory staff, providing ongoing training and evaluations.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and LIS, ensuring proper test entry and reporting.
