Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston, TX, seeks a skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to evaluate, perform, and oversee Laboratory tests and procedures. This role supports leadership in the absence of department heads and drives quality, safety and patient‑centered care.

Responsibilities include testing, quality control, procedure development, regulatory compliance, mentoring staff and contributing to performance improvement projects, with an emphasis on compassionate, efficient service

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science required.
• Two years of pertinent high‑complexity lab experience.
• Licenses/Certifications: Medical Technologist ASCP/AMT, CLS/MLS/CT.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents test results, quality control, maintenance; troubleshoots instruments.
• Oversees testing quality control, maintenance and procedures; prepares monthly quality reports and coordinates service visits.
• Evaluates and maintains technical procedures; meets competency requirements; writes procedures; understands lab equipment and LIS.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory standards (TJC, FDA, CAP, AABB, CMS, CLIA); participates in mock inspections and inspections.
• Teaches and mentors laboratory staff and students in procedures, quality control, performance improvement and customer service.
• Provides input on training, performance appraisals and competency; supports counseling and recognition programs.
• Promotes safe, compassionate, efficient patient care; participates in interview processes when applicable.
• Interacts with hospital personnel and patients regarding specimens and orders, ensuring policy adherence.
