Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA seeks an experienced lab supervisor to coordinate and interpret high‑level chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests. The role requires interdepartmental leadership and in-depth knowledge of lab procedures to aid patient diagnosis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical/physical/biological/clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
• Five years of related experience with demonstrated leadership.
• ASCP certification as Medical Technologist is preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be accepted.

Responsibilities

• Interviews prospective candidates for laboratory positions and makes recommendations to Manager.
• Evaluates new hires and conducts performance reviews.
• Schedules staff for benches and shifts and ensures quality of work.
• Guides Medical Technologists I and Lab Technicians in complex test interpretation.
• Performs tests, interprets results, and correlates with patient history and diagnosis.
• Ensures quality control, safety policies, and preventative equipment maintenance.
