Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Lead Medical Technologist for the Core Chemistry section to supervise and interpret complex tests, ensuring accuracy, quality control, and safety across assigned areas.

The role requires five years of related experience with demonstrated leadership, a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, and ASCP MT certification is preferred. Evening shift, part of a full-time schedule with weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• Five years of related experience with demonstrated leadership skills.
• ASCP certification as MT is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology required.

Responsibilities

• Interviews prospective candidates for positions in the laboratory and makes recommendation to Manager.
• Evaluates new hires performance and conducts performance reviews.
• Schedules employees for lab benches and shifts; reviews all work performed in area to ensure completeness and quality and takes corrective action as necessary.
• Discusses performance issues with employees and recommends disciplinary action to Manager.
• Performs complex testing and provides guidance and consultation on interpretation of results.
• Ensures compliance with laboratory quality and safety policies.
