Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is seeking a Lead Medical Support Assistant for the Sandusky VA Clinic.

The role coordinates Advanced MSA assignments and workflow within an interdisciplinary unit, assesses daily workload, and ensures proper staffing and training across the team. Ideal candidates have experience in scheduling, patient flow management, and collaboration with physicians and care teams.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship is required; non-citizens may be appointed only in specified cases
• English language proficiency required by VA Handbook 5005/Part II/Chapter 3
• Experience or education in clerical/administrative work
• Knowledge of coordinating care and scheduling in interdisciplinary settings
• Experience with coordinating with physicians, case managers, and allied health staff

Responsibilities

• Monitors and coordinates staff assignments and workload for the clinic
• Ensures coverage across all areas of responsibility
• Maintains scheduling accuracy and quality of work
• Trains and orients new staff; ensures training requirements are met
• Acts as liaison between MSA staff and clinicians to resolve day-to-day issues
• Plans and organizes work to meet local and VA-wide deadlines
• Communicates effectively with the care team and other VA entities
• Manages workflow priorities and adjusts processes to improve care delivery
