Job summary

AAPC is seeking a Lead MRTs (Coder) to oversee coding review, ensure timeliness, and improve coding accuracy across staff.Responsibilities include mentoring on ICD and CPT coding, developing training materials, creating reports, and monitoring workflow to support compliant billing and data integrity; telework is available.

The role emphasizes data-driven improvements, staff training, and collaboration with physicians and billing teams to maintain coding quality and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead MRTs (Coder) review coding and assist MRTs in ensuring timeliness and improving coding accuracy.
• Provide coding guidance to various levels of staff to promote consistency in practice and compliance with coding rules and regulations.
• Initiate, prepare, and maintain various reports, and analyze data; monitor workflow and day-to-day adjustments.
• Orient and instruct new coding personnel and/or students on coding, abstracting, and use of the electronic health record and encoder software.
• Resolve audit findings and claim denials related to coding errors for accurate billing and data collection.
• Monitor regulatory and policy changes affecting coding practices and identify educational needs.
• Develop coding training materials and present a curriculum encompassing ongoing training initiatives.
• Train and work with staff to use ICD and CPT codes to ensure accurate data capture.
