Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Lead Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) for St. Francis Downtown.

The incumbent will perform the full range of laboratory testing and provide physicians with high-quality results using diverse clinical lab equipment, while supporting the Technical Specialist to enhance laboratory operations. The role requires a Bachelor of Science in a CLIA-approved program, MLS certification or ASCP eligibility, and 2 years of clinical lab experience (5 years preferred).

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry from a CLIA approved program.
• MLS certification or eligibility must be obtained within 12 months of hire (ASCP preferred).
• 2 years of clinical lab experience required; 5 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs the duties of a Medical Lab Scientist.
• Assists Technical Specialist with implementation of new procedures and policies.
• Coordinates proficiency testing to ensure testing is registered, analyzed, and reviewed to meet deadlines.
• Recommends system changes to increase efficiency and accuracy of workflow.
• Completes schedules of department and updates time/schedule as necessary.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Other duties as assigned.
