Job summary

Mercy Health in Warren, OH is seeking a Lead Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) for the Core Laboratory at St. Joseph Warren Hospital. The role focuses on performing a full range of laboratory testing and delivering high-quality results while supporting the Technical Specialist in operations.

The ideal candidate has a BS in a related field, MLS certification or eligibility, and at least 2 years of clinical lab experience; 5 years preferred. The position offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry.
• MLS certification required or eligible (ASCP preferred).
• 2 years of clinical lab experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs the duties of a Medical Lab Scientist.
• Assists Technical Specialist with implementation of new procedures and policies.
• Coordinates the proficiency testing program to ensure testing is registered, analyzed, and reviewed to meet deadlines.
• Recommends system changes to increase efficiency and accuracy of workflow.
• Completes schedules of the department and updates time/schedule as necessary for daily operations.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Other duties as assigned.
