Job summary

Mercy Health seeks a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) for the Core Laboratory at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital. The MLS performs routine tests on blood and tissue, ensuring accuracy, safety, and patient anonymity while utilizing a range of clinical lab equipment.

Education requirements include a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field through a CLIA-approved program, and MLS certification or eligible status. External internships are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry through a CLIA-approved program.
• MLS certification or eligible by a recognized agency (preferably ASCP).
• Externship program completed (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens accurately and in compliance with procedures.
• Performs quality control and ensures results meet established ranges.
• Maintains safe equipment and work area following hospital policies.
• Assists with other duties as assigned.
