Job summary

The Children’s Home of Reading is seeking a Lead Medical Coordinator (RN) to oversee medical services for ORR program across Bethlehem and Doylestown. This full-time role involves health screenings, medication oversight, and collaboration with external medical providers.

Requires active PA RN license and a Bachelor’s degree, with at least 1 year in public health or healthcare. Training provided; travel between sites is required.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed RN with a Bachelor’s degree (or higher health qualification).
• Current, unrestricted Pennsylvania RN licensure required.
• Minimum 1 year of employment in public health or a healthcare setting with demonstrated experience in care coordination, health administration, or direct clinical care.
• Must exhibit integrity and good moral character appropriate for working with children in a residential or foster care setting.
• Must complete ORR-required pre-service trainings and annual continuing education.
• Must sign and comply with CHOR’s Code of Conduct and ORR policy, confidentiality acknowledgment, and mandatory reporter agreement.
• Must disclose any prior misconduct, including conduct off duty.

Responsibilities

• Conducts health screenings for newly admitted UACs within required timeframes.
• Oversees medication administration and management across both program locations.
• Monitors ongoing medical needs and maintains confidential health records.
• Coordinates with external medical, dental, and public health providers.
• Responds to urgent health concerns and medical emergencies.
• Travels between program office locations to maintain medical oversight across sites.
• Provides staff training on medical, dental, and public health topics relevant to pediatric, adolescent, and migrant health.
• Develops and maintains policies for confidential health records, triage, emergencies, environmental health and safety, and post-release health care planning.
• Participates in ORR-required monthly and quarterly status meetings; supports continuation application preparation.
• Exercise independent judgment consistent with program policy, ORR requirements, and applicable law.
• Communicate effectively with children, families, and staff; maintain reliable attendance.

What You’ll Do

• Conducts health screenings for newly admitted UACs within required timeframes.
• Oversees medication administration and management across both program locations.

• Provides staff training on medical, dental, and public health topics relevant to to pediatric, adolescent, and migrant health.
• Develops and maintains policies and procedures for confidential health record management, triage of health concerns, medical emergency response, environmental health and safety, and post-release health care planning.
• Participates in ORR-required monthly and quarterly status meetings as needed.
• Supports continuation application preparation related to health services.
• Exercise independent judgment consistent with program policy, ORR requirements, and applicable law.
• Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with children, families, and staff.
• Maintain regular, reliable attendance and respond promptly to program needs, including outside standard business hours when required by the role.

Qualifications

Required:

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with a Bachelor’s degree; OR a higher health-related qualification (e.g., Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner).
• Current, unrestricted Pennsylvania RN licensure required.
• Minimum of 1 year of employment in public health or a healthcare setting with demonstrated experience in care coordination, health administration, or direct clinical care.
• Reliable transportation required for travel between program sites.
• Must exhibit integrity and good moral character appropriate for working with children in a residential or foster care setting.
• Must successfully complete ORR-required background investigations.
• Must provide proof of immunity of vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route (Varicella, MMR, Tdap, annual Influenza) and comply with all state licensing health screening requirements including TB screening.
• Must complete all ORR-required pre-service trainings, as required and scheduled by ORR.
• Must complete all ORR-required continuing education on an annual basis, as required and scheduled by ORR, covering applicable ORR regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Must sign and comply with CHOR’s Code of Conduct consistent with ORR policy, confidentiality acknowledgment, and mandatory reporter agreement.
• Must disclose any prior misconduct, including conduct occurring off duty, on employment applications and in interviews. Material omissions are grounds for termination.

Schedule

• Full-Time / Exempt
• This position is based across two work locations, Bethlehem and Doylestown. The employee will be required to report to and work from both offices as necessary and assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit at a meeting table or desk, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach, twist, stoop, climb steps, drive vehicle, and assist individuals as needed.
