Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant Supervisor to coordinate and oversee Medical Assistants and Nursing Assistants. You will support day-to-day clinic operations to ensure safe, quality patient care in the General Oncology Unit.

Responsibilities include staff hiring, training, performance management, scheduling, and collaboration with providers and nursing staff. Strong EMR experience and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Education enabling MA certification in Washington state.
• Licensed/certified Medical Assistant in WA and knowledge of state practice standards.
• Current Surgical Technologist Registration in WA, if applicable by location.
• Basic Life Support certification (AHA) with renewal every two years.
• At least 2 years as Medical Assistant, preferably in ambulatory oncology clinic.
• 1 year in a lead or similar role with progressive responsibility.
• Experience with process improvement initiatives.
• Ability to respond to emergencies per clinic protocol.
• Proficiency with email and word processing; EMR experience.
• Strong communication, multitasking, prioritization, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Hires, orients, supervises, trains and assesses competency of staff.
• Evaluates performance and handles promotions, pay changes and disciplinary actions.
• Manages scheduling, time-off requests and timecards for team.
• Maintains communication with providers and nursing staff on patient flow and staffing.
• Represents staff interests in clinic planning, budgeting and projects.
• Intervenes in crises and conducts de-escalation and service recovery.
• Conducts internal quality assurance audits and analyzes results.
• Sets performance expectations and holds staff accountable.
• May cover routine care or support other MA Supervisors as needed.
