Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle seeks a Medical Assistant Supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations in General Oncology. You will supervise Medical Assistants and Nursing Assistants, coordinate patient flow, ensure safe, high-quality care, and collaborate with the Medical Assistant Manager and Clinical Manager.

Qualifications

• Education enabling MA Certification in WA.
• Currently a Certified Medical Assistant in WA and familiar with state practice standards.
• Current Surgical Technologist Registration in WA within 30 days of hire.
• Current BLS/CPR card and renewal required every two years.
• Minimum of 2 years as Medical Assistant, preferably in ambulatory oncology.
• 1 year in lead or similar role with progressive responsibility.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives.
• Respond to emergencies per clinic protocol.
• Proficient in email and word processing; experience with EMR.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment; multi-task and problem-solve.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; clear written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrates initiative and career progression for clinic betterment.

Responsibilities

• Hires, orients, supervises, trains, and assesses assigned staff.
• Evaluates performance and recommends promotions or disciplinary actions.
• Manages scheduling, time-off requests, and timecards.
• Maintains communications with providers and nursing staff on patient flow and room assignments.
• Represents staff interests in clinic planning, budgeting and projects.
• Intervenes in patient crisis, solves problems, and conducts de-escalation and service recovery.
• Designs and analyzes internal quality assurance audits and actions.
• Sets performance expectations and holds staff accountable.
• May provide routine care or cover for other supervisors when needed.
