Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle is seeking a Medical Assistant Supervisor to coordinate and supervise Medical Assistants and Nursing Assistants in the General Oncology Unit at South Lake Union. The role supports daily clinic operations, patient flow, and staff performance within a fast-paced oncology environment.

The position requires WA MA certification, BLS, and a lead-level track record; prior supervisory experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education enabling obtainment of Medical Assistant Certification in the State of Washington.
• Certified Medical Assistant in Washington with knowledge of practice standards.
• Current Surgical Technologist Registration in Washington within 30 days of hire, as applicable.
• Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card with renewal every two years.
• Minimum of 2 years as a Medical Assistant, preferably in ambulatory oncology.
• 1 year in lead or similar role with progressive responsibility.
• Participation in process improvement initiatives.
• Ability to respond to emergencies per clinic protocol.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to provide constructive feedback.

Responsibilities

• Hires, orients, supervises, trains, and assesses assigned staff.
• Evaluates performance and recommends promotions or disciplinary actions.
• Manages scheduling, time-off requests, and timecards for team.
• Communicates with providers and nursing staff about room assignments and patient flow.
• Acts as role model and represents staff in clinic planning, budgeting and projects.
• Intervenes in crises and conducts de-escalation and service recovery.
• Designs and analyzes internal quality assurance audits.
• Holds staff accountable to performance standards.
• May cover routine care or other supervisor duties as needed.
