Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle seeks a Medical Assistant Supervisor to coordinate and supervise Medical Assistants and Nursing Assistants, supporting day-to-day clinic operations for safe, high-quality patient care in the General Oncology Unit.

The role requires MA certification in Washington, BLS, and leadership experience; duties include staffing, performance reviews, and staff development. This is a full-time position with standard daytime hours.

Qualifications

• Education that enables obtainment of Medical Assistant Certification in the State of Washington.
• Currently a Certified Medical Assistant in the State of Washington; familiar with conduct and practice.
• Current Surgical Technologist Registration in the State of Washington within 30 days of hire.
• Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card; renewal every two years.
• Minimum of 2 years as a Medical Assistant, preferably in ambulatory oncology.
• 1 year in lead or similar role of progressive responsibility.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Ability to work in fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Hires, orients, supervises, trains staff and conducts competency assessments.
• Evaluate performance and recommend promotions or disciplinary actions.
• Manage scheduling, time-off requests, and timecards for team.
• Coordinate with providers and Nursing staff on patient flow and clinic prep.
• Represent staff interests in clinic planning, budgeting, and projects.
• Intervene in emergencies; provide de-escalation and service recovery.
• Design and analyze internal quality assurance audits.
• Hold staff accountable and set performance expectations.
