Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant Lead in New York to guide a team of Medical Assistants and support physicians with patient preparation, specimen collection, and clinical procedures. This role emphasizes staff training, performance evaluation, and efficient workflow coordination within the clinic.

The candidate will perform measurements, collect specimens, assist with ECGs, maintain records, and ensure exam rooms and supplies are properly organized.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of Medical Assisting program OR 1–3 years MA experience, OR 1–3 years EMT with NYS DOH EMT certification OR 1–3 years CNA with NYS CNA certification, required.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience, required.

Responsibilities

• Lead Medical Assistants in performance of duties and guide staff.
• Provide input for assessment and evaluation of staff performance.
• Participate in orientation and ongoing staff training.
• Prioritize and assign work based on workflow fluctuations.
• Handle complex issues and act as a resource for the team.
• Assist management in determining methods and procedures for new tasks.
• Be point of contact for vendors and manage supplies.
• Perform all functions of a medical assistant.
• Stock patient rooms and departments with supplies and equipment.
• Record and audit department for supplies and equipment; order as needed.
• Coordinate with health care team in planning patient care and record patient history.
• Perform measurements and screening procedures (height, weight, BP, etc.) and record findings.
• Collect specimens and assist in collection, complete requisitions and labeling.
• May perform electrocardiograms per physician orders.
• Assist physicians and nurses in examinations and procedures; prepare and drape patient.
• Maintain orderliness of exam rooms and ensure par levels.
• Ensure data collected is accurately recorded in forms and medical records.
• Other duties including maintaining medical records, processing insurance, preparing financial records.
• Comply with ADA Essential Functions.
