Job description

Join to apply for the Lead Medical Assistant role at Ironwood Cancer and Research Centers.

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers has state-of-the-art integrated Cancer and Women's Centers located throughout the Valley, offering comprehensive cancer care, including surgical, medical, and radiation oncology, diagnostic imaging, social support, nutrition, integrative services, and genetic counseling.

Mission Statement: To serve the community by providing quality, comprehensive cancer care that respects individual values and needs.

Overview: The role involves working under supervision to monitor and coordinate the Medical Assistant team, providing coverage when needed, and ensuring compliance with policies. The position is full-time, day-shift, based in Chandler.

Essential Duties:

  1. Coordinate daily clinic Medical Assistant coverage and distribute work.
  2. Support all Medical Assistant functions, including referrals and medication management.
  3. Provide coverage and assist Injection Medical Assistants.
  4. Monitor team performance and motivate staff.
  5. Maintain professional relationships and promote a positive work environment.
  6. Coordinate with pharmacy representatives.
  7. Room patients, record vital signs, and prepare charts.
  8. Handle patient calls and communicate with physicians.
  9. Conduct regular meetings and audits to ensure standards.
  10. Travel between offices as needed.

Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Stable work history, ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  2. Ability to obtain vital signs and follow physician instructions.
  3. Good patient relation skills.
  4. Computer skills; experience with electronic medical records preferred.
  5. Organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  6. Knowledge of HIPAA; chemotherapy and diagnostic testing knowledge is a plus.
  7. Bilingual skills are advantageous.

Education and Qualifications:

  1. 2-4 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred.
  2. National MA Certification required (must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  3. Medical Oncology experience preferred.
  4. Valid driver’s license.
