Job Description
The Lead Medical Assistant (LMA) provides direct supervision of Medical Assistants (MAs) at a clinic site. The LMA ensures MAs perform high-quality, team-based patient care for both clinical and administrative functions. Additionally, the LMA serves as the Vaccine Coordinator at a clinic site, managing all aspects of vaccine ordering, storage, handling, and administration. This role is crucial for supporting MAs, providers and patients in the delivery of the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Model.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Clinical Operations of the Back-Office.
- Provides Supervision, Leadership, and Guidance to Medical Assistants.
- Manages Training of Medical Assistants.
- Maintains Back-Office Clinical Compliance.
- Acts as the Primary Vaccine Coordinator for the Assigned Site.
- Supports the organization as needed.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS :
- Must have a current Medical Assistant certification. A Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcare Association is preferred or comparable certification from an accredited organization.
- Minimum of two years' experience as a Medical Assistant in a direct patient care setting, with experience in pediatric and adult patients preferred.
- One (1) year of supervisory experience in the medical field preferred.
- Spanish language fluency is preferred.
Standard Employment Requirements :
- Must possess a valid and unrestricted Arizona driver's license (within 30 days of hire if applicant is from out-of-state) with no DUI / DWI or reckless driving convictions in the last five years. No more than two at-fault accidents in the last three years. Must maintain a valid Arizona driver's license during employment. Must be insurable under NATIVE HEALTH's liability auto policy.
- Must pass a criminal background check and obtain a Class I Fingerprint Clearance Card within the initial ninety (90) calendar days of employment and retain a valid card while employed with NATIVE HEALTH.
- Must pass substance abuse testing upon employment and submit to random testing during employment.
- Must provide an updated immunization (IZ) record at the time of employment.
- Must have a current (within 12 months) Tuberculosis (TB) skin report upon employment and provide an annual update.
- Must obtain BLS certified within (90) calendar days of employment and maintain certification during employment.

- Comprehension of HIPAA regulations, compliance, and violation reporting.
- Knowledge regarding training staff in the electronic health record system.
