Job summary

Infravision is seeking a Lead Mechatronics Engineer in Buda, TX to lead the design, integration, and validation of advanced payloads for our heavy-lift UAV platforms. This hands-on leadership role unites mechanical, electrical, and software controls to deliver flight-ready solutions.

You will own payload architecture from concept through deployment, manage cross-disciplinary teams and external suppliers, and ensure performance, reliability, and safety in real-world aviation environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechatronics, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum five years in automation, robotics, or electromechanical systems integration.
• Proven experience with multirotor drones and open-source flight controllers (ArduPilot, PX4, CubePilot).
• Strong MAVLink, embedded integration, and drone telemetry knowledge.
• CAD skills in SolidWorks or Fusion 360 for lightweight mechanisms; high-current power distribution.
• Project leadership across multidisciplinary teams with rigorous root-cause analysis.
• FAA Part 107 remote pilot certificate preferred.
• ROS and computer vision familiarity on UAV platforms helpful.
• Experience designing hardware for harsh outdoor environments.
• Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not provided.

Responsibilities

• Lead UAV payload design & integration for heavy-lift multirotor platforms.
• Interface hardware with flight controller via MAVLink, CAN, or serial.
• Select motors, sensors, power distribution, and companion computers.
• Manage SWaP constraints including CG and flight dynamics.
• Serve as Responsible Engineer for payload development from concept to deployment.
• Develop scopes, schedules, and budgets; coordinate internal teams and suppliers.
• Identify and mitigate flight-safety and redundancy risks.
• Develop and execute test plans: bench, HIL, and live flight testing.
• Diagnose issues via flight logs; perform root-cause analysis and PID tuning.
• Maintain system requirements, wiring diagrams, manuals, safety protocols.
