Job summary

Infravision is seeking an experienced Lead Mechatronics Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of complex electromechanical payloads for our heavy-lift multirotor UAV platforms. Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering required.
• Minimum five years of hands-on experience in automation, robotics, or complex electromechanical systems integration.
• Proven experience with multirotor drone platforms and open-source flight controllers, including ArduPilot, PX4, or CubePilot.
• Strong understanding of MAVLink, companion computer integration using platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson or Raspberry Pi, and drone telemetry systems.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360 for lightweight mechanisms, plus knowledge of high-current DC power distribution and custom wiring harness design.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept through completion, manage deliverables, and perform rigorous root-cause analysis.
• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or Remote Pilot in Command experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Robot Operating System (ROS) and computer vision on UAV platforms.
• Experience developing hardware for harsh outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and integration of custom electromechanical payloads onto heavy-lift multirotor platforms.
• Interface secondary hardware and sensors with the drone's flight controller (ArduPilot/PX4) via MAVLink, CAN bus, or serial protocols.
• Select and specify motors, servos, sensors, power distribution boards, companion computers for payload operation.
• Manage SWaP constraints including CG and flight dynamics to maintain safe operating limits.
• Serve as Responsible Engineer for payload development from concept through deployment and manage scopes, schedules, and budgets.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks affecting flight safety and redundancy.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans including HIL simulations and live flight testing.
• Investigate system-level issues, perform root-cause analysis, and support PID tuning and vibration analysis.
• Create and maintain system requirements, wiring diagrams, integration manuals, test docs, and safety protocols.
