Job summary

Applied Intuition is seeking a Hardware Systems Lead to be the hands-on chief engineer for drone hardware. You will own the full system, including mechanical, electrical, and avionics, ensuring survivability in vibration, shock, and temperature extremes.

You will prototype, test, and refine hardware for flight, working closely with autonomy and flight-test teams. You will lead hardware design reviews, mentor engineers, and drive SWaP tradeoffs to optimize flight time and payload.

Qualifications

BS/MS in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related field.
10+ years of hands-on hardware engineering experience on drones or aircraft.
Strong command of whole hardware system: airframe, electrical, power, avionics.
Experience designing hardware to survive harsh environments: vibration, EMI, ingress protection.
Hands-on lab and field experience: building prototypes, wiring, debugging, flight tests.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end hardware architecture (mechanical and electrical) for drone platforms.
Prototype, build, integrate, debug, and test hardware on real aircraft.
Define survivability for sensors, compute, avionics, harnesses, and enclosures.
Lead integration of sensors, compute, power systems, communications, and flight controllers.
Plan and run environmental, durability, and flight testing; analyze failures.
