Job summary

Sierra Space Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Technician III to lead assembly, testing, and maintenance of intricate mechanical systems and flight hardware. You will work with engineers and senior technicians to ensure precision, safety, and compliance with aerospace standards.

You will mentor junior technicians in soldering, harness routing, inspection, and in-process testing, ensuring strong workmanship while adhering to 5S, FOD, and ESD guidelines in a high-precision environment.

Qualifications

• Typically 5+ years in a mechanical or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with PPE and shop safety requirements.
• Ability to perform advanced equipment setup and maintenance activities.
• Expertise in precision cleaning and use of hand tools/precision tools.
• Knowledge of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness and handling procedures.
• Ability to verify and troubleshoot own work and assist others.
• Advanced understanding of mechanical assemblies, soldering, harness routing, inspection, in-process testing, precision cleaning, and fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Lead assembly, testing, and maintenance of advanced mechanical systems.
• Collaborate with engineers and lead technicians to ensure flight hardware quality.
• Mentor less experienced technicians in complex assemblies and processes.
• Inspect, assemble, integrate, and check flight hardware to meet specs.
• Follow PPE, 5S, FOD, and ESD protocols; lift up to 50 lbs; work in restricted spaces.
