Job summary

Sierra Space Corporation in Colorado is hiring an entry-level Mechanical Technician I to assemble, test, and maintain spacecraft mechanical systems. You will work with engineers and technicians to ensure precision and safety, translating blueprints into assemblies and performing precision drilling with calibrated tools.

You will follow PPE, 5S, FOD, and ESD practices, and collaborate to meet production goals while gaining experience in soldering, harness routing, inspection, and structural

Qualifications

• Entry-level role: typically 0–2 years of experience.
• Familiarity with PPE and shop safety requirements.
• Ability to set up and maintain basic equipment and demonstrate mechanical aptitude with hand/precision tools.
• Willingness to learn precision cleaning.
• Ability to learn 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness.
• Ability to verify and troubleshoot own work.
• Understanding of mechanical assemblies, soldering, harness routing, inspection, in-process testing, precision cleaning, and structural fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Assemble major structures and perform minor part-fitting for spacecraft systems.
• Translate blueprints into mechanical assemblies and perform precision drilling with calibrated tools.
• Bond, troubleshoot, and develop skills in precision cleaning and handling mechanical hardware.
• Inspect, assemble, integrate, and operation-check flight hardware to meet specs and standards.
• Follow 5S, FOD, and ESD protocols; lift up to 50 lbs; climb ladders; work in restrictive spaces.
