Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead engineering efforts within the Undersea Systems Division, supporting underwater vehicle systems, maritime sensors, subsea telemetry, and ISR solutions for critical defense missions.

You’ll join a multidisciplinary team developing and supporting customers with advanced maritime technologies, from production processes to prototype design, and contribute to delivering mission-critical solutions across sensor networks and unmanned systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Systems, Mechanical, Ocean), Physics, or Math.
  • 4-8 years of experience with subsea maritime systems or other integrated electro-mechanical systems.
  • 4+ years of experience leading integrated teams.
  • Exposure to DoD technical program execution.
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on mechanical engineering support for the production, integration, testing, and sustainment of complex maritime systems.
  • Resolve production and field issues through technical investigation, root-cause analysis, and implementation of practical engineering solutions.
  • Improve product designs for manufacturability, reliability, maintainability, and cost while maintaining system performance and mission requirements.
  • Develop and maintain mechanical drawings, specifications, bills of material, work instructions, and other technical documentation needed to support production.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, technicians, and suppliers to address material, component, and assembly challenges.
  • Support configuration changes, obsolescence management, component substitutions, repairs, and upgrades throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Participate in system integration, test, troubleshooting, and disposition of nonconforming hardware to keep production and delivery on track.
  • Provide engineering support for fielded systems, helping ensure delivered products remain reliable, supportable, and mission ready.
