Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer for a hybrid role in New Freedom, PA. You will lead full product development, drive design optimization, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring compliance with UL/CE/PED/GB/ASME codes.

You will collaborate with design and manufacturing, guide testing, and deliver robust, cost‑effective solutions for water‑cooled chillers and related systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years in a mechanical engineering role.
• Strong understanding of fluid and thermal principles.
• Proficient with organizing and processing large data sets.
• Experience with product development, project management, and sustaining configurable systems.
• Ability to mentor and train other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain understanding of theories, concepts, and processes related to fluid, thermal, and other mechanical aspects of water‑cooled chillers.
• Lead on-time completion of programs and report project status.
• Design and conceptualize mechanical solutions for the product.
• Apply mechanical codes such as UL, CE, PED, GB and ASME.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing to balance cost, performance, and reliability.
• Lead and execute test programs to validate performance and reliability.
• Analyze, design, modify, or troubleshoot mechanical subsystems using test data.
• Generate and review technical documentation within the product team.
