Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks an innovative Principal Mechanical Engineer to drive the full product development lifecycle, lead design and testing, and collaborate across engineering, manufacturing and leadership to deliver high‑quality, reliable water-cooled chillers.

You will mentor junior engineers, guide design optimization, and apply UL/CE/PED/GB/ASME codes while shaping engineering best practices across the organization. This onsite role offers a competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).
• 7+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering role.
• Strong understanding of fluid and thermal principles.
• Proficient with organizing and processing large amounts of data.
• Experience with product development, project management, and sustaining configurable systems.
• Ability to mentor and train other engineers.
• Preferred Datacenter industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain understanding of theories, concepts, technical principles related to fluid, thermal, and other mechanical aspects of water-cooled chillers.
• Contribute to and lead on-time completion of programs and report status of projects.
• Expert in mechanical design and able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product.
• Apply mechanical codes such as UL, CE, PED, GB and ASME.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to balance cost, performance, and reliability.
• Lead and help execute test programs to validate performance and reliability.
• Analyze, design, modify and troubleshoot mechanical sub-components and subsystems based on test data.
• Generate and review technical documentation for use within the product team.
