Job summary

Siemens Livermore, CA-based team is seeking a dynamic and experienced Team Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive the mechanical design of switchgear products and ensure performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

You will lead the Trayer Engineering team’s design, prototyping and qualification testing, using SolidWorks CAD and FEA for complex analyses. The role requires collaboration across R&D and production with relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Eight (8)+ years designing, analyzing and validating components.
• Experience as a Team Lead or leading technical projects.
• Strong development experience addressing production issues.
• Advanced SolidWorks CAD skills.
• FEA modeling in mechanical structures, fluids and heat transfer.
• Strong knowledge of Kinematics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to present to diverse groups.
• Willing to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of new switchgear products and reconfigure existing structures using standard components.
• Perform complex part and assembly design in SolidWorks from concept to production.
• Produce drawings and specifications for product lines for sales catalogs.
• Introduce design simplifications to improve performance, safety, quality, reliability, cost and producibility.
• Develop qualification test programs for on-site and 3rd party labs.
• Conduct FEA in mechanical structures, fluids and heat transfer.
• Develop prototypes and support production qualification and root-cause analysis.
• Lead meetings and mentor team members; collaborate with R&D and other teams.
