Job summary

Jobtailor in Kansas is seeking a mid-level Mechanical Engineer to design power system products under supervision of an engineering team lead. You will guide Level 1 Engineers and Designers and translate prototype concepts into commercially viable systems.

You will perform cooling calculations, ensure designs meet specifications and codes, and work with customers to refine requirements. Domestic travel 5–10% is required and background checks apply.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Technology with relevant experience.
  • Proficient with PC and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Solidworks knowledge required.
  • Willingness to travel 5-10%.
  • Ability to work between 7 AM and 5 PM, and be available any day to meet business needs.
  • Employment contingent upon successfully passing a background and drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical design for power system products.

  • Convert prototype designs into commercially viable mechanical systems.
  • Perform detailed calculations for system cooling requirements.

  • Compile data and write reports regarding engineering studies and projects.

Job description

Perform mechanical design for power system products under the direct supervision of an upper level Engineer or Engineering Team Leader
Provide guidance to Level 1 Engineers and Designers
Convert prototype designs into commercially viable mechanical systems
Perform detailed calculations to design for system cooling requirements
Confer with internal and external customers about existing or potential product designs
Ensure designs comply with specifications, codes, and customer requirements
Inspect completed installations for conformance to design and equipment specifications
Compile data and write reports regarding engineering studies and projects
Contribute to the creation of technical manuals
Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment
Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 3 years of progressive engineering related experience, or Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Technology and 6 years of progressive engineering related experience
  • Proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Solidworks knowledge is required
  • Willingness to travel 5-10%
  • Ability to work between 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday-Friday, and at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs
  • Employment contingent upon successfully passing a background and drug test
