Job summary

hargroveepc seeks a senior lead mechanical engineer to supervise a team of engineers and designers, delivering mechanical deliverables on time and within budget. You will act as a technical specialist for complex assignments and provide guidance across disciplines.

The role requires extensive experience, PE registration preferred, and on-site involvement for startup and field verification across industrial projects. This position emphasizes quality and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Familiarity with department design and drafting standards.
• Familiarity with project scope, specifications and design criteria on a task team.
• On-site assistance during startup.
• Perform stress analysis, construction specifications, material procurement specs, calculations and piping estimates.
• Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies for efficient solutions.
• Produce estimate-level preliminary designs and material take-offs.
• Produce detailed design calculations and sketches for materials of construction.
• Assist drafting group in resolving routine layout and detailing problems.
• Consult with design leaders to ensure timely information flow.
• Review vendor/downstream drawings for mechanical input.
• Develop designs emphasizing ease of construction and client satisfaction.
• Check calculations for accuracy and codes conformance.
• Advise senior engineer on design/scope changes.
• Assist engineers in assembling scopes into a package for procurement pricing.
• Develop construction specifications.
• Review fabrication drawings for conformance to drawings and specs.
• Perform fieldwork to gather data and support construction.
• Provide technical guidance to junior drafting/engineering staff.
• Apply advanced techniques to complex designs.
• Coordinate with staff and discipline leads.
• Estimate professional service hours and monitor progress.
