Job summary

Lockheed Martin in the United States is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive mechanical design and analysis across multiple projects in the AMPD lab. You will layout concepts, lead execution, and collaborate with other disciplines to ensure design intent and successful validation.

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will work on launcher and missile canister development, contribute to composite product design, and participate in fabrication support.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in CREO Parametric or similar 3D CAAD tools (Windchill, EPDM).
• Understanding of and able to apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Self-starter and independent worker.
• Experience with launcher and missile canister development.
• Experience working programs in dynamic environments such as space or undersea applications.
• Comfortable working on a dynamic, fast paced team under demanding schedules.
• Experience designing and manufacturing composite products.

Responsibilities

• Layout conceptual designs early in the design phase and support proposal efforts.
• Lead mechanical design throughout the execution phase on multiple projects.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to evaluate material and component structural and thermal data applying it to the design.
• Interpret design specifications, codes, and standards to ensure project compliance.
• Collaborate with project teams to verify design intent and resolve issues promptly.
• Provide technical support during fabrication and validation phases of the engineering cycle.
