Job summary

Rebel Systems is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive the design, validation, and cost-effective development of advanced mechanical systems. You will lead complex programs from concept through production, mentoring engineers and coordinating with manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to ensure robust, manufacturable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of progressive mechanical design and product development experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience leading complex mechanical design projects from concept through production release.
• Expert proficiency with Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent 3D CAD software.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
• Experience performing FEA, structural analysis, and engineering simulations.
• Experience designing for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
• Development of production-ready engineering documentation and BOMs.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, welding, sheet metal, casting, and assembly.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and influence cross-functional teams.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of complex products and systems from concept through production using CAD software.
• Act as technical lead on new product development initiatives and mentor junior engineers.
• Develop detailed 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing instructions.
• Perform and oversee FEA, thermal modeling, and reliability analyses to validate designs.
• Drive design reviews, risk assessments, and failure investigations to ensure quality objectives.
• Lead rapid prototyping, testing, and design improvements based on data and feedback.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality to optimize manufacturability and cost.
• Interface with suppliers and customers to resolve technical issues and define requirements.
• Maintain comprehensive engineering documentation and ECOs.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, military specs, and regulatory requirements.
